Many pet owners think of ticks as pests affecting pets just during summertime months. Yet, the threat of tick bites and the passage of infectious organisms spread as ticks take blood meals from our pets (or us) is a potential threat besides just during the warmest times of the year.

The concern for life-threatening bacterial, viral, and parasitic diseases spread by ticks should motivate owners to take environmental control measures and to seek advise from veterinarians as to the best tick-preventative medications most-appropriate for their pet.
