Natural Pets TV Cat Edition Episode 2 Cat Dental & Mouth Care
I enjoy and appreciate working with Pet World Insider to spread my message of holistic pet health to an audience near and far.
Pet World Insider has a new series of YouTube videos all dedicated to the promotion of the health of our canine and feline friends called Natural Pets TV. In this episode of Natural Pets TV: Cat Edition I team with Pet World Insider's Robert Semrow, Natura Petz Organics' Heidi Nevala, and NoBowl Feeding System's Dr. Liz Bales (my fellow Penn Vet alum) to discuss feline dental health and periodonal disease prevention and treatment.
Periodontal disease often is a hidden health concern that doesn't become apparent until clinical signs become severe, like appetite changes, lethargy, oral malodor ("bad breath"), and others or a veterinarian points out the concerns as part of a physical exam. At that point cats have to go under anesthesia to improve or resolve underlying dental concerns like feline resporptive lesions, which are like the cavities we get but involve an active tooth decay process where the feline body attacks its own enamel.
Such is why I recommend daily home dental care for both my canine and feline patients. With committed effort under the guidance under the guidance of veterinarians owners can prevent periodontal disease from happening and reduce the likelihood your feline friend will require an anesthetic dental and tooth extractions.
